North Carolina

Something you may or may not know about us, is that we kind of burn the candle at both ends.  We are go-go-go ALL the time.  The Hubs & I were in desperate need for a relaxing getaway. So a couple of weeks ago we took a road trip to Bryson City, NC with our friends Brendan and Courtney.  We all loaded up in our cars – dogs and all (4 in total! hah) – and began the 12 hour treck. The Hubs’ grandparents have a little cabin on top of a mountain there… absolutely picturesque! So here is our weekend getaway in pictures (excuse the quality of some of the photos… they were taken on the Droid):
This was the car ride up.  Maddie camped out on the arm rest between me and the hubs. You can also see Bish in the back… we put the seats down and put his dog bed back there. He was as happy as a clam!
The first morning, we drove into Cherokee and got Breakfast at Peter’s Pancakes & Waffles.  It was a whole different breed of people. haha I had to take a pic of this guy’s mullet/ponytail that he had going on! Court was mortified haha!
The breakfast was GINORMOUS.  It was only 5 bucks so we weren’t expecting much…. Umm we should of SPLIT. My breakfast could have fed all four of us! hah There was a lot left on my plate when I was finished. This was Eggs, Pancakes and Corned Beef Hash (the eggs are hidden under the pancakes):
Next up: we went to feed the bears.  The hubs had done this as a kid and really wanted to go back.  All of the bears did tricks for food.  This one grabbed it’s legs, rolled on it’s back, then clapped for food. Other one’s twirled like ballerinas etc… crazy! I thought they were people in bear costumes.  All until i heard the growl.  Yep.  There were real bears!
They also had a huge White Tiger:
We followed up the afternoon with a hike.  Let me tell you, we did A LOT of hiking while we were there!  This was our plan of attack to counter-act the unhealthy food that North Carolina had to offer. haha  Bishop LOVES the water and I mean LOVES it.  Maddie – on the other hand – is absolutely petrified. However, we had a huge breakthrough with her this trip! We got her to go in the water (on her own!).  It was to get her ball and she wasn’t too happy about it, but hey it was progress!!! She did it about 8 times in a row!

While we are looking at pics of the dogs, here is one of Bishop with his new buddy Jackson (Brendan & Courtney’s adorable Golden)
Back to the re-cap: On our trip we basically did a lot of relaxing, walking, hiking, and eating at local Restaurants.  One place we went to was at a nearby Resort.  They had gorgeous views!

The View from Dinner:
On our last day, we drove into Asheville to have a Farm to Table Brunch at The Grove Park Inn. OH MY GOODNESS. DELICIOUS! We took some pics with my nice camera while were were there.  It was too pretty not to!
That was our trip in a nutshell!!!
I’ll leave you with a pic of our pups absolutely WIPED (on the car ride home):
