I am incredibly thankful for so many things and Thanksgiving is always a reminder of how truly blessed I am.
This year we certainly had a Thanksgiving to remember. 32 people. Yes, you heard right… thirty-two. Our dear friends (who are actually more like family than friends) were in town and my family (along with some others) and had a HUGE thanksgiving over at Bruce’s house. We’re talking 3 turkeys… 2 hams… and a plethora of thanksgiving side dishes! To put into perspective just how much food we had: there were THREE different kind of cranberry sauce, 2 types of green beans, 2 types of Potatoes, a myriad of different pies… and well I think you get the picture! haha
I was in charge of on of the Turkeys (he was a hefty 22 pounder), a Derby Pie, and Mike-aritas (the hubs was responsible for these).
Here is a re-cap of our fabulous day:
We woke up at 7:30am and got to WORK! I began chopping my vegetables & herbs while the hubs pulled the best-turkey-ever out of it’s 36 hour long “bath” in a beer/apple cider brine (recipe to come in the next few days- KILLER!). We got him all settled, seasoned, and then into the oven he went (the turkey that is).
Still in our PJ’s, the hubs, myself and my mom sat on the couch and watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade for a little while (I mean… it’s tradition- you’ve GOT to do it!).
Our (afore mentioned) dear friends, the Muenstermann’s, came over. All of the guys went out to meet up with my brother for a game of football. The ladies had a little catch up time over some coffee on our balcony… it was SOO nice!
After the guys came back (all sore and tired) we all got ready and then did a few last minute things in the kitchen…
Off to Bruce’s house we went (where we were actually having Thanksgiving dinner):

Thank goodness Bruce has a big house 🙂
