Veggie Supreme Pizza

I can’t remember the last time we actually ordered a pizza. ย It’s just so easy (especially when you cheat and use store bought dough from the Publix Bakery!)! This time though, I actually made my own dough using my bread machine. I love my bread machine!! For the dough, you just dump the ingredients in, press the start button and 1 1/2 hrs later you’ve got pizza dough that is ready to be rolled out! I have to say, the dough from Publix bakery works pretty darn good if you don’t want to be troubled with making your own. Try it out sometime!

Note: If you don’t have a pizza stone, they sell metal round pizza pans at Target/Bed Bath etc… that are pretty inexpensive.

Veggie Supreme Pizza

Ingredients:

Your Favorite Pizza Dough
1-2 Cups Mozzerella - Freshly Grated
1/2 Red Onion - Sliced
1 Green Pepper - Sliced
1 8oz Container of Sliced Mushrooms
1 Small Can Sliced Black Olives

Simple Pizza Sauce (Enough for two pizzas):
1 28 oz Can Crushed Tomatoes with Basil (I like Muir Glen brand)
Pinch of Sugar
1/2 tsp Salt
Fresh Cracked Black Pepper
Dash of Garlic Powder

Directions:

Place the sliced Onion, Green Pepper, and Mushrooms evenly on a baking sheet. Place in the oven and broil for a few minutes. While broiling the veggies, mix up the simple pizza sauce ingredients and set aside. Pull the veggies out of the oven and let sit until ready to make pizza.

Place the pizza stone in the oven and preheat to 425ยบ. Roll the pizza dough out, then gently place on the pizza stone (in the pre-heated oven). Carefully spoon 1/2 of the sauce onto the pizza dough and spread evenly across it leaving about an inch edge. Bake for 5-10 minutes (till the dough is starting to get nice and crisp, but not brown), then pull the dough out of the oven using a pizza peel.

Add the cheese followed by the broiled veggies and then the black olives - evenly distributing them across the pizza. Place pizza back into the oven and bake for another 10 minutes or so (until cheese is melted and crust is golden).

Remove from oven and allow to set for 4-5 minutes. Cut into 8 equal pieces using a pizza cutter. ENJOY!
