The time I went shooting…

Remember the Kesler’s? Well, us Wiley’s LOVE us some Kesler’s! They are friends that we can always be ourselves around and have a tons of laughs with! It’s such a blessing to have friends like them!

My brother got a shot gun a while back, and then “the bug” (you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about) was passed on to Brendan and Mike (The hubs). They too both recently bought 12 guage shot-guns and get super pumped (no pun intended! hah) when they get to go out and shoot clay pigeons. Their absolute FAVORITE place to go shooting is this really neat sporting clay center called Quail Creek! They don’t get to go very often since :

  • 1: It’s more than an hour away from where we live (Umm, have you guys seen gas prices lately?! SHEESH!)
  • 2: It’s not exactly the cheapest hobbie…

A few Sunday’s ago, the boys were really itching to go (Dan – the brother – couldn’t make it) so Brendan and Mike somehow convinced Courtney and I to go with them and ride along in the golf cart. We went to early church and then booked it up there for the afternoon. I wasn’t really sure what to expect… and to be honest, I thought I would be BORED out of my mind. I thought I’d just be a supportive wife and humor my husband in his new hobbie.

You know what? I actually had A BLAST! It was a ton of fun! The guys let us take a couple shots (Totally missed every time)!  But I would definitely go back and try again… maybe with a lighter more female friendly gun (hint hint!).

[How hard-core do we look with those giant guns?! haha ]

What fun! I love shooting trap. I find skeet shooting to be harder but one day I’ll be better at it. I’ll never forget when my husband asked if I would want to go, which I was excited about, and surprised him that I knew what I was doing–he had no idea! I had learned several years prior and I can actually hit a moving target 🙂 Hearing your husband say, “That’s my girl!” haha Kinda fun! Plus, I like yelling “pull”, gets me all pumped up especially when I blow the clay to smithereens. One day I might play the full sport course that you walk through with different stations, but it’s not cheap to play that course.

P.S. Once you start shooting more and more you’ll notice you might need a vest to protect your shoulder pocket or you’ll bruise. Holding the gun tight to your pocket will help but after awhile it doesn’t matter, repeated thrusts there will cause a pretty little shiner. 😉
